Design for Life.

I was fortunate enough to work with a WEF endorsed and globally recognised design leader and conversationalist from Denmark - a country notably built on modern design philosophies. This meaningful time gave me insights into the world of design, design processes and basically how modern day innovations are the result of design thinking.

Consider this;

Anything that resonates carnally, has design at it's core. However superficial the subject matter. Aesthetics and functionality for great "UX",  through design processes, starts the conversation. Pretty much like the workings of a relationship... which equally can go very wrong if without understanding, if inferior in quality and if poorly designed.

Companies are heavily investing, more so now, on design-impact research. This has attributed to innovations like smart phones and smart homes. Constant innovation through design built the world's greatest car brand. Apple, too,  made design thinking visible while Korea are changing their economy daily with their design-centric culture and innovations.

Before spending on marketing, new product development, product enhancement and prototyping- taking it a step deeper- the emphasis is actually on understanding the audience psyche together with current tech "currencies" at play.  To me, understanding audience usability graduates for next level "design-ovations".

Let's cut to the chase.

However far back your mind can take you, how has design not been central to the development process? A mug handle, before production, was a considered design process to cater for a need. However, understanding audience profile precedes innovation through design (some Asian tea cups are handle-less).

The approach can be as simple as understanding the need and designing smartly for it. Or, creating the need through smart design.

Indeed Chris (Martin) "Life is a drink, and love's a drug". Design for "life"-  this too is our Heritage.
