2020 & work options

Many teams are now approaching business and projects with specialised teams vs. general staff approaches. This has always been my opinion on how to best provide solutions to clients. It's got to be expertise being aligned based on the scope of work. I too have been part of such aggregated teams and sitting at a table of dedicated project expertise  is extremely stimulating. This is even with modern day professional preference in most sectors (except for medical and legal to name two fields) which leans towards a broad and generalised approach instead of a super specialised ..or dare I say a limited one.

It seems that

to know a little about a whole lot seems to be the new professional 'cool' that's here to stay.

New business models are fast becoming fluid in keeping with lean human capital  structures and simply appointing with the onboarding of new business. Much of these decisions are also based on strained economic impact on business and declined commercial development activities. Risk and sustainability remains central to decision making in the area of human capital numbers.

On the other hand, staff also prefer consulting type roles which lends to flexibility and self time management together with varied projects - keeping outcomes renewed and refreshed. This brings value to all parties.

So the question then becomes one of whether it is more financially beneficial to staff in taking on consulting roles instead of a permanent one.. which may or may not get you a year-end bonus ..and with risk equal to that of employer's of fulltime staff counts.
