The United States of Africa.

I've had an interesting few weeks.

Its been good for me in that there's been a change in scenery with travel and in meeting with new people.  Very warm and considerate people in both countries of visit even though one was only a stop over.  Either way -

There's a lot happening in Africa and it's impressive. But alot still also needs to happen.

The younger generation of people I met with are super switched on and as generally seen in most countries currently.  Everyone is constantly challenging themselves to develop personally, professionally and entrepreneurially.   Progress is the central theme alongside the sentiment of sharing with others. No one is willing to progress alone and certainly not at the expense of others. No one wants to "belong" to anyone so the idea of work, ownership and employment definitely seems to be regarded as "enthused participation" if not immediately due to financial circumstances, then by design for the future.

Ofcourse all countries have their own challenges and some are very similar so everything is a process towards progress. And while this is respected by many, no person wants progress to constantly feel like it's being postponed. Process needs to happen faster and in a way which respects dynamics like where nations are "bottle-necked" but certainly things should be happening where people are elevated fast out of their lives lacking in human dignity. Again I am reminded that this is the effort and responsibility of everyone but mostly of those in a position to effect change. Still this shouldn't stop anyone from influencing or actively contributing towards a shared vision. But is there a vision that's clear enough, fluid enough, impactful enough and united enough?

Back home saw me in conversation where an interesting (and new to me concept) was suggested too. It went something along the lines of

The United States of Africa.

I like it. I like it alot because excellence doesn't belong exclusively to anyone. Together, with a plan for impact and prosperity which can be collectively agreed to and implemented fast and well - many lives can possibly be improved with many nations being accelerated economically.
