The night sky would not be lovely with just one star in it.

Image
Stars, a clear night's sky and the thought of what lies beyond does fascinate me. It gives me a profound sense of peace and wonder of my solitary and collective existence. Looking at a sky full of stars so easily meets my eyes with no resistance. This is why I love a particular art piece of mine which has a women pensively looking upwards. I feel that this particular piece was inspired with its sole intention being to find its way to me. Interestingly, everyone that views it asks if it's me. I simply smile and sometimes respond with "what do you think?". So maybe it is all these insights about me that explains my respect for Elon and Richard. Together with their brilliance and ballsy venturing into the unknown and to create for the Future. The same Future of businesses and sector's which forms the underlying principles that my own firm was founded on. You know my own country has some really cool stuff happening too with the South African Large Telescope. ...

Busy. A pre-requisite for Impact

Image
I've been known to, unashamedly, take my laptop on exotic vacations and to cancel vacations to be in office in front of my laptop! While in corporate I had my CEO's in different roles/companies tell me to take some time to rest. I am correct in saying it's the same personal investment, over-investment-combined with circumstances at the time- which directed me into business. Would I change anything I could? Nope! Do I have a choice for now- Nope! I've come to label my desire (or by self label "my disease") for Impact through business as one I cannot cure and personally one I don't want to. I've chosen projects and business beliefs over too many personal life choices - for years now. I've on occasion woken up from deep sleeps and at odd hours talking off the cuff about my projects and dream projects. About Richard Branson and Jack Ma! All met with snide chuckles by my partner back then. I literally lose sleep( ah, sorry Arianna)...an...

Be a Narcissist!

Image
I'm no relationship expert! But I have, over some time, heard of and witnessed relationship "failures". My own two included. Left wiser? Maybe! Left happier? After a while, yes! Again, I'm no relationship expert! But I have wondered what has been so fundamentally flawed with both men and women alike when in relationships? To me it has felt and does seem as if we are bypassing fairly simple matters in return for complicated, complex and downright broken relations. Big and not so great words from the eternal optimist I find myself to be! Look, I could if I wanted to,  take a note from any spiritual "guru" whose disposition on failed everything (including relationships) is merely "a sign of the times". But then again I simply can't digest that notion when everything else about my approach to life screams great information and aid readily available for creating a bright Future - Now. Relationships, for me, is no exception to ...

Spoken by the Heart.. the rest of me followed.

There's so many certainties in Life with Sciences and Data on its side. Recently I've made the time and allowed for head space, complimentary with some of my own personal developments, to sit down and to really allow things "to come to me" as they would prior. Now from a place of thriving Inspiration. I looked out glass windows which gives me the privilege and honor to gaze at beautiful tree tops. Olive green colors amidst bursts of flowering yellow's and Jacaranda trees which competitively complete a purple pink sunset. All flowing naturally, timeously and mystically into the silver grey evening. This day is given with honor to a loved family member who was buried earlier. It's also left me with a reflective resolve on the fragility and preciousness of Life. I trust her young daughters will be raised carefully into the beautifully impactful and grounded women that their great mother would have wanted them to be. I am also reminded of my own astoundi...

Heritage - a time to be free, firm and futuristic.

Image
As a South African National, this Heritage Day I am ever proud to speak about the positive strides we have made as a Nation and continue to make daily. This can be seen in our ability to overcome challenges, to discuss with grace and consideration some very tough matters and in the sheer ability of our Honorable President Ramaphosa's forward thinking, multilateral decision making and recent activities. While Heritage Day typically sees the fabric of our society, the South African Rainbow Nation, converge in colors and attire symbolic of what resonates true to each, the future is being created at a pace which can be awkwardly received if not kept abreast of. So I do believe that the future is inclusive of not only National Heritage, but progressively of "Global Heritage" too. It's like mindedness that connects, collaboration and co-creation is the core of skills share for next phase innovations, multilateral trade will accelerate economies to speak to needs...

Come As You Are.... but be sure to create your Nirvana!

Image
I will quote, in a bit, the opening lyrics of  the famous rock band Nirvana. A group I was exposed to at about 16 years of age ... along with many slapstick and soul filled jams - all compliments of family, friends and my own listening ear. Oh, those were the Christmas's! Everyone together and laughing, toasting, feasting, doing breakfast shifts, playing, playing board games and kids games, playing bad piano, ballroom dancing.. and then just getting down on the dance floor! A week long Christmas party at my grandparents! No,  Nirvana's Come As You Are  certainly didn't belong to family Christmas's,  but it did momentarily to my own teens with some fleeting exposure to the rock group. And for the longest while I've since forgotten them, however offensive that may be to Nirvana fans! However, tonight's recollection comes as an adult and in a totally different context. One of life and business to be exact. In my ongoing and unshakable belief in the ex...

Popcorn for Dowry

Image
I love a good movie! And for many years my Friday nights owned me. Comfortably clad and curled up to a projected movie is where you would ceremoniously find me. A minimalist by calling, did I need more than an impressive, blank white wall to project onto? Nope. More honestly though,  maybe to include some of my favorite art, a small though impressive loose tea selection,  Lalique and Maison collections, my 4 crystal animal trinkets and my quietly met view of the city by night - from our penthouse. Ofcourse all this means  nothing without popcorn. And at any stage would be traded for some if necessitated! See my private space remains where you will happily find me after a busy week. Maybe less in front of a movie, but certainly when I do take the time to watch one (even as a repeat), I love the offered escape! So being invited to watch two movies, back to back at a regular Cinema, meant a well deserved break from my general entrepreneurially filled weeke...
