Swiss National Day wishes

The last few years meant attending Swiss National Day at the Swiss ambassadors residency. This year, just a digital greeting from me. For the longest time Switzerland has been close to my childhood let alone my adult life. My mom, on a visit to the country, brought a piece of CH back home. We had window boxes oozing flowers bursting with colour and a type of curtain I believe was inspired from her visit.  So as an adult, attending with a leading entrepreneur and my friend, an event at the Swiss Residency was very interesting. I met with really great entrepreneurs. When it finally came to opening my own firm, no guessing who all I was initially going to reach out to. The then Ambassador for the  country of Switzerland to South Africa, Ambassador Helen Budliger Artieda, was great. She gave me a meeting after reaching out and post that also saw me attending various interesting events at the residency. From arts, culture, trade, sciences , entrepreneurship and exhibitions - the broadest ar

Hi. I am Marica. The owner of a forward-facing firm called Marica & Co Pty. My latest business venture, a Personalised and Conscious Food company, has been a work in progress for the last 10 years of my life.  It's ready and designed to bring quality living through food choices we make with you, to every person and home. Our Country in these times – a poem by marica

In times of where people feel alone and yet united, we are reminded that the heavens are in charge. When work seems harder than it needs to be, surely the God which unites all faiths universally, must be in charge. When a leader is made to feel so challenged, God raises the hearts of many to support even if for reasons unknown to them but clearly known to God. When the road feels bare and the load so very heavy, you are reminded you are not walking alone. Did you know God is in fact carrying you? And when we still have to see the clear, unseen hate which is there to hurt and limit a Nation, a Light which makes us all equal will continue showing us who is in charge even when we have to sit among anyone ill intending. We break bread in hope that hearts and then minds will be changed. God almighty will guide the leaders which He chose. For you may call God by one name and yet He calls us all by His only known name, Faith. For these times may seem rarely hard, but this is w

Marica is inebriated!!

I am outlandish. I have asked you to get me Jack Ma on the line to pay his salary. I asked to be called Ruth Bader Ginsberg for a bit. Loving music and for Mother’s Day I believe I may have played all you loved mothers a Miley Cyrus track which at some point of the video had her clawed "down there". I speak in pretty pictures but have undertones of the beauty to be found in diversity, of health for every human being void of social class and which allude to my business interests.   Mostly, I just attention seek! But in hope that you will get what I am actually trying to say. I know I was born to be a social entrepreneur or with some level of commitment to societies and humanity at large. This particular virus I have just won't bloody leave me...even if a partner did for me showing up firm! But.. I also let you know my troubles. And there's a few. And I am unashamedly vocal about  business mistakes etc. I speak with you like we're seated (socially distanced) a

This is what I learnt today

A few of you know how terrible and still somewhat surprising it was for me on learning of two Covid19 related deaths today of people I knew. There is always this element of surprise, even in the face of realities, when things find its way close to home. We somehow never think things can happen to us, yet we also accept that it can. A very strange place to find oneself between because shock still lingers when such news arrives.   What helps is talking to good company and being in safe community with others. I was invited and joined (a bit later than I could have at the time of its inception) an amazing group of people from business and everyday life who share whatever is on their hearts and minds. It's great and I am so grateful to be part of the Thrival Alliance platform. It's really a case of come as you are, share what you need to and it’s in a safe, respect filled and virtual environment. Feeling safe all round is very important as well. Tonight's fortnight session

Business Reposition

Image
Covid19 came along and took many developing businesses out the water. Big businesses too are clearly impacted negatively because of this pandemic. In an economy which was a work in progress in 2019, I shared much of how we already felt the effects of a few macro related matters. This being separate to challenges in mandate expectations or simply the inability for partners, under pressure themselves, to see through fulfilments.   Still this has not and won't see us constrict.    Instead there is a clear redirection on where the attention and focus should be for our business. As you would read in earlier posts, the nature of our alignments and projects have a long cycle before they generate revenue and become profitable. This business model, in current circumstances, realistically won't work.   So with a rethink, a refocus and a new strategic direction time and energy would be placed in sectors explored and touched on but never entirely delved into.     What we wa

$We Too - an Unconventional Billionaire approach

A particular family started a reality show and essentially from a rather compromised position (pun intended). It was not anything I quite wanted to understand. A bit like some parts of my experience from the really deep stuff from David Bohm.   I know. Quite an insult for some of you having this US based reality show starring family, now with a mega empire and enviable bank balance in pandemic times, featuring in the same sentence as the free thinking, unorthodox scientist David Bohm. Yes, one exposed herself and "blossomed" with exposure becoming a household name (which never quite made it through my doors anyway) while David Bohm too, exposed his beliefs and was only later exposed. A late bloomer by acceptance from scientific fraternities. But both reality show star and scientist equally brilliant. Yes, you heard me correctly.  Both scientist and this particular reality show family are brilliant. They had ideas, they shared it publicly, they were rejected. They are now resp

I'm a 41 year old monk

Ok glad the title got your attention. Something I learnt while copywriting for a global platform and their clients a few years back. No, I am not a 41year old monk.   But with Covid19's isolation, reflecting and daily practices of tried and failing self-discipline at diet, I could well be described as one. The last days I decided to give a day or two to viewing some philosophical, theory-based content. Of course a lot of my thoughts shared on my active social platforms (a must for engaging in the 21st century and to be aligned to current /future business pillars). References were made to David Bohm, Anne Frank and the profound beliefs of Krishnamurti. The subject of relationships came up during Covid19 and I wanted to extend my understanding beyond the typical sorts of relationships which exists between people. I needed to understand a bit more on the meaning of life, the workings of mind, the relationship with Self and with oneself. Since from this, I believe all relationships w
