Precipice Innovation

One has to wonder a few things over. In a single particular order when it comes to Climate Change, this remains paramount to address. For the longest, hardest times of relief and aid to matters of human doing and suffering, still, there was the element of geography and geopolitricks at play.  Without going into depth of what is meant by this, look at where poverty seemingly is by design ..alongside diseases and big name involvements. Yet still it could be considered of a human attribution for these unmet challenges. But when we look at very literal, visible climate related matters - we can't wait to act on these with interventions. If things can even be intervened. World encounters of mass biodiversity destruction like currently seen with Brazil's floods are starking eye openers,  once again. We know food systems are imbalanced and climate demands a complete overhaul in how to address industrial designs and processes. Greed and dominance still at play in whom gets to faster an...

No substitutes for basic health

Image
Today I spotted someone from a distance with a cold sore that stood out as he was walking towards the treadmill. Much of what we know is those things are not a good sign of a immunity and are a form of a hepatitis/STD related, laying dormant to never go away as are with warts on hands etc. What I am saying is that even with advance medical choices, you still must excercise basic care for all else to complement health and wellbeing choices.  Washing of hands is necessary and no vitamins can substitute for that cleanliness if you just think over things like public door handles, elevator buttons, money and all the exchanges of it ..to then to use your hands to apply moisturizer your own face, to cook, to handle kids etc.  It's like the basic principle of wearing hairnets in industrial kitchens and with food handling or preparing of (massive respect to Big Mouth Sandton specifically as not spotted in other top end sushi bars frequented). Some basics apply and always.  Like no...

On a day like this..

Image
This post is not about me. It's a day of a loss to many of us, near and far. And a gain to the Almighty on return of His young son, complete and safely kept. In the quiet of  a day where circumstances silences the outside, I am reminded of a few things. Mostly, a decision I made young to impact and to live serving Life to the best I know. Often it doesn't look like the one or two to help, but it's the exact decision which would be needed for a vision my company was lent to me with. Lent, because I don't think anything or anyone belongs entirely to another, or even meant to be here forever.  But what helps is in knowing the purpose in which you do the things you do, and to trust that the spirit of well intended things lives on..as you will young man. And so for me, Sea-Stematic was intended in serving the highest intentions for Humanity to the best I knew when I started it.  And its something which I hope lives well on for a long time or as long as its lent in serving th...

Sleep when you must!

Image
To have a company in a forward leaning sector where industrialist nations refer to it as an economic stumulus, the factories of the future and a next space race, can be somewhat extraordinary to say the least. This, together with keeping relevant through fast paced business developments, making real time and well considered decisions while remaining ethically bound to the wings of the vision, leaves you in constant think mode at hours deemed for rest. By who exactly is rest confined to conventional patterns and hours which anyway some of the world's most extraordinary people have shown to reject in sleeping at work desks for a bit or their production floors. And still achieved anyway. My Asian colleagues for weeks would do the rest, work, rest, refresh -all at work- thing.  I'm that person who sleeps only a few hours. I can also can sit for hours thinking and prefers to do so alone and even at the expense of most inviting company or events. I get that my friends in health an...

Aging well

Image
Firstly, I think to age well requires sound stress management through life's stresses. This could be in lifestyle choices pertaining to excercise and diet,  mindfulness practices and then interventions like advanced vitamin cocktails intravenously taken. I'm such a fan of but toned the iv drips down recently, upped my water intake again but am yet to get back into my hour run.  I drink less coffee and decided to be kinder to my body in doing so. I mean 7cups a day! Diet still remains the fastest way to affect your mood and to eat a home cooked meal that's made with good ingredients,  even in a basic meal, matters most. I don't think you can go wrong with keeping the stuff you like on your plate but to what extent will that add value is to be asked if the frequency is daily. Mind matters like community engagement, group based games or crosswords still help with brain related matters but let me leave that to Andrew Huberman labs to speak further to. I'm reminded of ho...

The Circle and Cycle of Life.

Image
Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela! Earlier this year I had to observe at lunch the disposition of an Indian male towards other males at the table that was off. Simply because of their race. I corrected him after. I also know I would exit Indians or add anyone to any matrix, almost deliberately,  that makes sense to being human, humane to a sound human condition.  Try own me, you'll first lose me and I don't care who you are or what you have. So is that my own Mandela stance? Mandela and me met only once and about 20years ago. Currently I noted a Mandela competition based  who's the next's to fill his large shoes in the future. I believe daily everyone can have a Mandela presence. And this is not BBEEE or WMC or excluding the global 1% 'ers. If I may, can we get a HEEE perhaps? H being for Human because the world is very complex as Yuval rightly outlines but it is what we know for now. Personally my life was simpler unknowing much but it leads to re-realise even more.....

Incredible people, like stars destined by fate, find one another.

Image
The other day I posted a video where I had to try really hard to contain my enthusiasm as to how people and I met through the most natural and extraordinary ways. Literally as strangers, in totally external spaces minding our own respective businesses, brought together by an accomplished artists paint stains on his sneakers. The immediate and hours into understanding one another can only be summarised as divine orchestration. When hours pass and there's no concept of time felt or where even quiet spaces don't feel empty, one is in very good company of people. People who I am certain I will be sharing a very significant part of my life in friendship if not more business related. Futurists and purists at heart, where an extrovert but also private person like me who enjoys the peace of thinking or hosting in quiet spaces like my own space, will say that was one stepping out of a lifetime. I've had one other that changed much in different ways.  This however could be the bigges...

Amazing women beyond borders

Image
To be in community with amazing people, women, beyond borders of cities and countries is invaluable. I mean really in community where support, respect, acumen and humility are served healthily. The fact that so many people share freely on matters of interest or what is in their hearts, is awesome. They also happen to be the smartest women I know so you can be assured of always learning something incredible. These are women who will not throw any other women or person "under the bus". Not in front of them nor behind their backs. Neither do they use words for the sake of engagement or pay attention without actually being present. They won't sneak behind to harm another knowingly and neither talk you down. This is rare and so I am incredibly grateful for a few women I share this with ( you know who you are). Life is the most precious gift and so you want to guard it with respect and boundaries which maintains the highest orders of the soul. Well-being requires a very clear c...

How you rest matters.

Image
In my teens my mom would watch me go to meditation retreats and come back silent and smiling lots. A very profound experience for her who knew me to talk much. From the age of 6years old, my school reports would say I enjoy contribution in speech and later in debate.  The Art of Living practices included a breathing technique of  Yogic Asana and Sudarshan Kriya. It was deeply associated to mindfulness and had all faiths attended/attending lessons to listen to it's founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's, " the art of living" pearls.. Something you "can't cast at swine's" who won't get the general idea of wisdom, known to be imparted by all prophets and saints. Personally, I enjoy Mufti Menk too and am of another faith.  The universal life lessons are the same and ensures "life is for the living" as one 90year old once shared too. What stood out in the closing part of the Sudarshan Kriya practices was laying on your left hand side which gave a d...

A no title piece.

Yesterday I decided to cover a few things over the world's leading media platform and first in breaking news. Over Twitter.  This is whether we like to accept it or not, or being personally challenged by reasons beyond the immediate logic. Twitter is a new media owner and best described as above.  Even a mild critical thinker would see this with or without the blue tick. With or without issues on Elon. Political issues aside.  A few things led me to share the theme as you will find on my handle/twitter feed.  I felt I have done alot of self work and from young. Some of it by choice and some of it by chance. But all in all, its formative impact has been lasting. It helps that I also met very interesting people or as I like to also see it, I met very interesting lessons disguised in people. I love life more than anything, regardless, and don't see this changing for a long while.  Some of those early life tools helps me navigate challenges till today. Awareness and...

Prelude: A Quiet Billionaire - Speculative Fictional Short Stories by Marica Quarsingh

A Quiet Billionaire Speculative Fictional Short Stories Marica Quarsingh   Fast Cars. Fast Mars Trails of red dust in what could resemble to an artist silk scarves in the wind filled the red planets air. A mars terrain geared EV sped its way from one end of the dunes to the next. Close to follow was a second vehicle. Less fast in speed, but more advanced in driving skill. A more technical driver behind the wheel chasing the lead car whose driver seemed more out to have fun. Proving that having fun in the process could take you further, faster. Eventually both vehicles about to stop in what can only be described as an earthly fast car movie scene with a dramatic driving end, but on fast Mars amplified with intravenous EV capabilities. They made donuts in the sand and the lead driver with one hand clench in an anti-Apartheid fist through the glass retractable roof as shrieks of glee echoed across the empty dunes. Both cars abruptly stopping with dust settling and e...

In the Spirit of Spiritedness

Image
It has been a while since I've put down some thoughts here or posted my once daily personal video messages.. usually at first takes. It's the result of a variety of things. However - in the spirit of being right here and in the now, looking over treetop's as I word these few sentences, I am also deeply disturbed..infact saddened, disappointed and personally challenged by some of the news headlines the world has had to recently observe. Priests getting killed ( as picked up on Dr. Tedros Adhanom's twitter feed). Then the resources struggle to equally fight the Covid19 war. And then the wars.. Followed by internal challenges within organisations.  And then myself  seeing the blatant audacity of entitlement in being subjected to racists both black and white. For me, there's very little room to have polarized hate filled biases when we all share a common world - with various levels of common problems to lesser or more degrees. But in that the same world where we can cre...

Eleanor Roosevelt.

Image
I've long being living beyond the ideals of romantic sorts of love forms, into the other expressions of Love. Not easy for any suitor to say the least. And a few things comes to mind. The most being my love of Life. For me, Love is seeing through to the end of my time -here- the Love of hope for Humanity with goals in context of business to drive shared prosperity and social impact. There's that X factor about living a life of purpose which differs to any other sort of Love forms expressed. Love of children who go on to live their own lives to which you get to experience whatever it is you do as a parent. The love of parents who leave, but never really do. The love of God as only a monk can understand - or not.  And the love of a significant other - which has no guarantees, ever. Making Love of individual Purpose and beyond personal Self a very intimate expression of Love. In its truest form can be an accurate overstatement.  I think of women like Kamala Harris, Eleanor Roosev...

The Quiet Billionaire

Image
Words come to me fairly easily.  Heading Content with a JV business partner for his own digital design & tech firms, through a B2B relationship, gives me energy. Energy because I get to do what I love. To think both promptly and contemplatively, using words to best achieve clients brand objectives. My business partner himself has an entrepreneurial aggressiveness which has always made our business activities complementary. We share an eagerness to achieve. But back to words.  Some may recall about three year's ago I endeavored writing a book. The framework, story and chapters were all clear. Well into it, perched in a lofty hotel where I daily would head to write, I realised that writing a book is a soul bearing activity for me. Especially when it has very little to do with me.  Once you ink each word there's no real opportunity to turn back. Life and that self imposed limitation led me to pause, wait and then to abandon the book. Themed around the idea of personal ge...

We're OFF OLD

Image
Let me be clear. Off. Old has nothing to do with any brand owning a similar name but does have everything to do with people owning Affordable Luxury items at any point in their consumer journey. The company and various featuring brands are aspirant and is by design to appeal to young males and first-time salaried men. The young male should be able to save his monthly allowance and the first-time salaried male should be able to change his looks often without forgoing other monthly demands. We want students to look good while performing equally great. It's not only good for the moral but gives a sense of owning what you want at any time, while making your money truly work its magic. Off. Old will see collaborations with various persons and different ranges under its banner are where we see ourselves playing in a world where collaboration is key and creative energy remains. See you on the right side of dope. Marica (Logo credit: Moonears @moonearsofficial About:  Canadian ...

Heartfelt Affliction - A poem for women who are abused in one way or in all forms

Image
She cried for help. She screamed but was hushed in by the estate's security.  The neighbours needed her to be abused inside the mansion instead of disturbing a "rich" mans leafy suburb.  A suburb where dogs are treated better than humans and some human's feel kicked and abused like strays. So what is rich? She managed to escape hours of torture to safety where many could have smirked at her but hadn't and her driver wasn't that but instead her friend. Where doctors thanked them for their support and she thank doctors for saving her. The violence was long before his actual. He corroded her mentally and emotionally. Her. A wall which behind her eyes like mystic pools wailed.  How do you wrong someone flawed but wanting right? Raised voices, expectations, hands and hopes. How do you women raise your son. To raise voices, demands and their hands to their women? Afflicted and heartfelt she stood the wall of living embrace.

Treating people medically, Medical Professionals and staying Humane with overburden Systems

Image
I am not someone who ever wants to see myself in a hospital unless God forbid, there's an emergency.  A belief I think most of us share. For me the idea alone of being confined to a space where people are unwell makes me sick.  So having to spend time in a bed knowing so many people are ill is more distressing. But how does one perfect the balance needed to be medically treated and to be out of a space that leaves little room for inspiration. And what about the people tasked to daily help others recover? Virtually answers a lot and medicine is seeing much in the space of online consultation and developments in AI led medical treatments, which is said to have a greater percentage of accuracy. However taking away the human element found in doctors and which we all need when we are vulnerable doesn't make any robot better without a human, humane medical representative. Private medical treatment facilities gives patients the liberty to ask for what they need and when. Delays in se...

Twenty Twenty One

Writing is two things for me. A natural expression when I find I must, or an art I cannot bring myself to naturally as a result of anything unnaturally consuming. Writing is the grey matter I find myself between. When my mind as an over stimulus really wants to have me speak itself through words and between stuff, or simply when so much is happening that I just cannot bring myself to a single word - because of stuff. My Twenty Twenty One new year canvas was slightly unprepared for and arrived in a way I’ll never be used to. Still, here I find you through grey matter. Through expressed words – naturally even in unnatural times. I truly wish us all a year different to the last. Some of the people I respect most are those not tucked neatly in conventional days, ways or lives. In standing up for my own definition of what it means to be living and while it may have cost me conventionally, is one I am ok to be held to with words, no no infact labels, both good and bad alike. May the work you...

The week ahead can never be about the week that was.

Image
I am a firm believer of looking forward and in moving forward.  When I do reflect its generally to learn or to make correction of what I did not see coming and won't want again. Part of the training has been about years of following various schools of thought. Some briefly and some more consistently. I won’t cling to any one in isolation because knowledge is broad and ultimately the same, maybe just varied in expression. And the expression being the savouring. The purpose of this piece is perhaps to highlight the tenacity needed to move forward post a bunch of things which has affected us all in 2020. “Moving Forward” has also become such an overused, misused and to me, a shallow use of words when simply left at that. Shallow because if the personal work is not done, the effort not applied, the actual intent left undefined to evolve a past, clearly moving forward into a future created -  is without gravitas. Experiencing a Gestalt, that ah-ha moment, can general...

A "no budget" mentality and co-creating with a smart-arse'less approach

https://marica.co/     As a firm committed to developing for a successful future and for a broader significance beyond business, our past and current activities always keep relevance, efficiency, sustainability and needs-based affordability top of mind with the solutions we develop, represent or consider onboarding. Being human centric we also believe that people are ultimately who we are serving and that the psyche of various demographics remains common regardless of variables. So the decisions and preferred ways to engage, taking a data -tech-people centric approach, makes many of our sector foresights accurate. It's with a deep level of conviction we hold the position that collective consumerism and collective demand will necessitate a collective rethink on how to supply for those needs - in the most humane ways. Also, we don't shy away from the fact that people do not know what they missed till it's presented beautifully, easily, seamlessly. With this, Quality...
